Could you imagine having your teeth straightened without having to wear metal braces? It actually is possible, with Invisalign clear aligners. If you have a severe malocclusion, metal braces may be the better alternative, but most people are good candidates for Invisalign clear braces.
So, what is the difference between Invisalign and metal braces? First, as we have stated, Invisalign aligners are clear. This means that they are virtually invisible, so unless people are standing in your personal space, it is unlikely that they will even realize that you are wearing braces. You will not have to worry about unkind people making jokes about the “railroad tracks” in your mouth.
Another significant difference is that you can remove your clear braces. Metal braces have to stay in place for the duration of the treatment, but you can take your Invisalign aligners out when you want to eat or clean your teeth. Then, just pop them back in. You do not have to contend with food collecting in and around your braces, and you can eat whatever you want.
Another advantage you have with Invisalign is that there are no painful adjustments. You will receive your full set of aligners (often as many as 30) all at once, and simply change them on a schedule that is determined by your dentist. Of course you will have to have the occasional appointment, just to be certain that the treatment is progressing as it should, but you will spend considerably less time in the dentist chair than you would with traditional braces.
Invisalign clear aligners are a great way to have your teeth corrected invisibly, and with no discomfort.
