What is pediatric dentistry, exactly, and in what way is a pediatric dentist different from a general dentist?
Pediatric dentistry is children’s dentistry, but there are actually very few dentists who deal exclusively with children. Most of the time, a pediatric dentist will also treat the rest of your family, so they are generally more properly referred to as a family dentist.
At Cardinal Park Family Dental, we will be happy to see your children. In fact, we believe that it is important for children to begin seeing a dentist by at least age 3, if they are going to avoid the possibility of dental problems when they get older. Also, the earlier your child starts to see the dentist, the less likely he or she is to be apprehensive about dental visits.
Perhaps you would like to bring your child in for a tour of the office first. He or she can meet Dr. Ashton and his assistants, take a look around the office, sit in the dentist chair, look at the instruments, and get comfortable with the surroundings before the actual appointment. We all love children, and enjoy having them visit. When the time comes for the actual appointment, your child should feel comfortable with the dentist. However, if it makes your child feel more at ease, you are more than welcome to be in the examining room during treatment as well.
